smoking for 15 minutes before taking a measurement.1. Disinfect the thermometer probe with ethyl (rubbing) alcohol. Place a probe cover over the tip of the
thermometer. Press the on/off button. The display will show (or ) followed by . If

Once the ºF (or ºC) has stopped blinking, the peak temperature has been reached and a beeper willsound for approx. 4 seconds.4. After reading the measurement, turn the thermometer off, dispose of the used probe cover and cleanthe thermometer. If the thermometer is accidentally left on, it will automatically shut off after 10 minutes.5. Children should alwa

NOTE: If the measured temperature is higher or lower than the thermometer’s measuring range, the

RELIABLE METHODS TO MEASURE TEMPERATURE
ORAL USE (approx. 10-20 seconds)Place the probe tip well under the ton

measurement toensure an accurate temperature reading. Do not bend or bite the probe while it is in the mouth. A normaltemperature by this method is 98.6ºF (37ºC).UNDER ARM USE (approx. 15-25 seconds)Wipe the armpit with a dry towel. Place the probe tip under the armpit and keep the arm firmly pressedagainst the body during measurement to ensure an accurate temperature reading. A normal temperatureby this method is 97.6ºF (36.7ºC).RECTAL USE (approx. 10-15 seconds)If your doctor recommends a rectal temperature, place a probe cover over the tip of the thermometer andlubricate the probe with a water-soluble jelly for easier insertion. Do not use petroleum jelly. Gently insertthe tip of the probe NO MORE than 1/2 inch into the rectum. STOP if you meet any resistance. Hold thethermometer in place durin

. A normaltemperature by this method is 99.6ºF (37.6ºC).REMEMBER: Temperature readings vary from person to person and thermometer to thermometer. Findyour normal temperature and watch for changes. If you compare readings between two thermometers, it ispossible to have two different readings even if both thermometers are within their accuracy ranges.

LAST TEMPERATURE RECALL
While the thermometer is OFF, press and hold the on/off button for approx. 2 seconds. The last temperaturemeasured will be displayed along with the letter “M” under the degree (º) sign.

CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
Clean the thermometer by washing with soap and warm water or rubbing alcohol. Do not use thinners orchemical solvents to clean. Wipe dry with a soft cloth. Do not boil or clean the probe in the dishwasher, thiswill cause the unit to malfunction and will void the warranty.

BATTERY REPLACEMENT
1. When the symbol appears the battery needs to be replaced.2. Slide the batter

cover off in the direction shown. Use a toothpick or insulated probe to remove thebattery. Do not use any kind of sharp metal object to remove the battery.3. Place a new 1.5V batter

in the chamber. Insert the batter
y
with the positive

side up and thenegative (+) side down (facing the LCD display).4. Slide the battery cover back onto the unit and make sure it is secure.WARNING: Dispose of old battery properly, out of the reach of children. Swallowing the battery may befatal. If the batter

to have it removed. Do notdispose of the battery in a fire, it may explode.

PRECAUTIONS
1. Prolonged high fever requires medical attention especially for young children. Contact your physician.2. Do not drop the unit or expose to heavy shock. The unit is not shock proof.3. Do not store the unit in direct sunlight, high temperatures, high humidity or dusty areas.4. Do not use the thermometer if it operates erratically or if the display malfunctions.5. Keep out of the reach of children.6. Clean the thermometer probe before storing.7. Do not attempt to disassemble the unit except to replace the battery.8. If the thermometer has been stored in below-freezing temperatures, allow the thermometer to warmnaturally to room temperature before using.
